Meet the Staff of LadyBug Academy

Aleksandra Razavi

Hello!  I’m the owner and Executive Director of LadyBug Academy. I grew up in Poland, where I earned a Masters in Sociology from the University of Warsaw. I also have a certificate degree in Survey Design and Data Analysis from George Washington University. I live in Arlington, VA with my two children. I’m a passionate advocate for children’s well-being, which I combine with a deep interest in business. My journey in this business began when I was searching for a daycare for my son in 2013. I discovered a stunning lack of quality care options in Arlington and the surrounding areas – and realized I had to do something about it. So I created Ladybug Academy. Working with children and running my own business has been life changing experience for me. It brings me unbelievable joy and fulfillment every single day.  I don't believe there is anything better than watching children develop, learn, and grow.  Attention to details and warm touch are our brand's essence. It is what we do!

Cristina Reed

Center Director

Hello, my name is Cristina Reed, the center director of Ladybug Academy. I am the mother of three beautiful children, and I have over 25 years of experience in this field. My degree is in early childhood. It is an honor each and every day to be able to tech your children and provide them with the right tools to be successful in life. Watching them grow and achieve their milestones gives me such joy. My passion as an educator is to make sure that when your child is ready for that first day of school, they will achieve great things both academically and socially.

Lillian Chekalin

Infant Lead Teacher

Hi, my name is Lilian Chekalin, and I’m thrilled to be the Infants Lead Teacher at Ladybug Academy. I grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil and have a Business BA. I had a successful career in Marketing but wasn’t fulfilled in what I was doing. I realized my real passion is working with kids – and I’ve been doing that for the past 11 years.

Taking care of children is hard work. But it’s also very rewarding. I get to experience their development, growing social skills and affection every day. Besides being a teacher, I’m mom to a wonderful 7-year-old girl. I’m fluent in Portuguese and English, and also have some knowledge of German and Russian. My hobbies are spending time with my daughter, going to the movies, reading, cooking and trying new places to eat around town.

Jennifer Paulo

Infant Teacher

I’m Jennifer Paulo. My family is from Angola, but my sisters and I were raised in the United States. Our family’s language is Portuguese, and I’ve always felt proud of my cultural heritage. I have worked in the childcare field as a toddler teacher for 3 years. I also have experience with younger infants (newborns to 8 months) and younger toddlers (10–16 months).

I’m currently working on my CDA (Child Development Associate) for Infants and Toddlers. I love Ladybug Academy. It provides individualized attention for the children and the loving environment of a home daycare.

Talisa Gonzalez

Infant Teacher

Hi! My name is Talisa Gonzalez. I will be a graduate student this fall, pursuing my Master’s in Forensic and Legal Psychology. For the past year, I worked at a daycare center in Michigan where I had the opportunity to playfully engage with children of all ages, from infant to school age. I love sports, trying new foods and traveling internationally. I also have a passion for working with children and love helping them explore the world in fun and creative ways.

Taylor Beinke

Infant Teacher

Hello, my name is Taylor Beinke. I was born and raised in Illinois, but I recently moved to Virginia when my husband got stationed here. I am currently studying Speech Pathology and plan to work with children after I get my degree. I have experience working as an assistant teacher with infants to preschoolers. I am very excited to work with all of you!

Sophie Currie

Administrative Assistant & Floater

Hello! My name is Sophie Currie. I was born and raised in Arlington, VA, and this past spring I graduated from Longwood University with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Neurostudies. I have always had a passion for children, and I learn something new about them every day. I’ll probably never stop learning.

Growing up, I gained experience from various nannying jobs and leading different kids camps. Throughout my education I took courses on child development. These are the courses I enjoyed most. They helped me to understand kids on a deeper level. However, there is no substitute for interacting with children one on one. Every day I leave Ladybug Academy knowing two things: I've learned something more about children, and I have made a difference in a child’s life.

Edna Saenz

Toddler Teacher

My name is Edna Marroquín. I’m 33 years old. I was born in Guatemala and live in Fairfax County. As a graphic designer I’m passionate about art. I love the opportunity to create and play through the wonderful world of art with the best of all teachers – our children. I enjoy seeing them smile as they play with textures and colors. In this way we learn to educate each other through art.

Jessica McIntosh

Two-year-old Lead Teacher

Hi, my name is Jessica McIntosh. I am 22 years old and from Ellijay, GA. We only had one high school – that’s how small the town is. I am married to a wonderful man named Collin. He serves in the US military, and that is what brought us to Virginia. It’s my first time living in the North. I attended college for 3 years and will finish my degree next year. I have a twin brother and a little sister who I adore so much! I am a mommy to a 4-year-old Siberian husky called Abel. He’s my pride and joy. I have a passion not only for animals but children as well. I have a very bubbly and energetic personality – silly and very loving. Whatever I do I always try to exceed my very best at it. I plan to do just that with the children I teach.

Eileen Romero

Three-year-old Teacher

My name is Eileen Romero. I was born in Venezuela and permanently moved to the United States in 2015. My favorite part of living here has been the opportunity to learn about various cultures. I decided to study psychology with a focus in early childhood development. I have experience as a Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher, working with babies up to 4 years old. I particularly enjoy the 2–4 year olds. At that age they really begin to develop their personality and character, and I want to be a part of that. I look forward to working alongside you.
